We are pleased to announce that we have recently installed a new pay-as-you-go smart charging point at Berry Hall Cottages to provide a much needed convenience and service to our guests.
Our charging point is powered by VoltShare and is compatible with all modern electric cars.
EV drivers looking to visit us now never need to worry about running out of charge or stopping over at in transit rapid charging points before arrival; no more range anxiety! We are excited to be part of the zero-emission revolution, promoting clean transport and healthier Gower skies.
As part of their commitment, VoltShare has also recaptured 2000-3000 kg of CO2 for charging point installed.
The charge point is for the exclusive use of our guests. The connection is tethered, type 2, with maximum power output of 7.2kW.
How to charge in 4 simple steps
1. Connect your EV & Scan the QR code on the charging point
2. Enter your payment card in the VoltShare app
3. Start charging
4. Unplug your EV to end the session
At the time of writing (July 25) our charging rate is set as £0.60/kWh (incl. VAT). Unfortunately, we currently do not have access to cheaper, off-peak tariffs. Please also be aware we may vary this rate without notice, depending upon the price we pay for our electricity.
As with all commercially operated charge sites, we are obliged to charge VAT for the service. However, unlike commercial operators, we’re not VAT registered and have no way of offsetting this cost.
We have also added a small uplift, to cover the cost of our Voltshare service and to contribute to the capital investment we have made in installing the EV point.
The charger is accessible to both cottages. If using from Berry Garden Cottage just park your car so that your cable reaches the charger, so anywhere along the drive. If using from Berry Hall Cottage please keep car parked on the gravel at the front of the main house. Both access points shown below. The site access code will be required to access the charger. This will be sent to you prior to your arrival if you are bringing an EV.
Each cottage may access the charger from the following places:
Garden cottage – on the driveway alongside the charger
Berry Hall cottage- park as instructed pre-arrival and your cable will reach the charger.
For faster charging please consider what time of day you are plugging in as the charge speed will be affected by the properties electric draw at the time of plug in. We suggest overnight is the best time or during the day avoiding early evening.
